BYRDWOOD Blog

  • by

Honestly, I’ve never fancied myself a blogger.

Spent decades designing and building websites, software, creating user interfaces & coding, as well as creating art outside of the corporate/digital realm – never really wanted to blog. Just wanted to design and build cool shit.

When social media popped up – now everyones a blogger.

These days, blogs are kinda ancient… everyones got a podcast.

Ha!

Soooooo… why am I blogging now?

A while back, I exited Etsy after selling a few things and built my own shop, on my own site – no fees, all the traffic to my domain.

Time to do that with Instagram.

I don’t have FaceBook (permanently deleted my personal and ByrdWood accounts a couple years ago) or TikTok or any other social media account and have leveraged Instagram solely to market and grow an audience.

The dreaded algorithm allowed me to realize that time spent on my own domain will prove more beneficial over time.

I intend to go on leveraging Instagram, but spend much less time posting content over there and instead, utilize my own platform to lure viewers with new content here, on my own site.

My aim is to write a blog each day or at least a few times per week with some shots of what’s on the bench, in-progress shots, short vids – basically everything I’m currently doing on Instagram, but it’s here!

The Insta account is lookin’ to get a bit 2nd rate… The good stuff will live here 🙂

I’ll get an email list set up for those who would like to keep up to date with drops in the shop or a sale.
